The Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) is a unique examination, study and research library of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The CCBC’s noncirculating collections include current, retrospective and historical books published for children and young adults. Their website provides extensive, categorised bibliographies that are an excellent source of inspiration for teachers.

Writing
In the school I have been volunteering at, students have access to a laminated page of common words. I thought this was a really good tool to have in the classroom for when students are writing things like diaries or letters. There is also a wall on which various less common word cards are stuck. Students can refer to this word wall if they are looking to spell a word not on the common word list.
Below is a list of common word I have complied and a list of less common words that can be cut out and stuck on a word wall.
